SITUACION GEOGRAFICA:
Situada en el límite entre las dos provincias aragonesas, la laguna de Gallocanta en las inmediaciones de la localidad del mismo nombre. Es accesible desde la N-330 de Zaragoza a Teruel, a través de la carretera comarcal 1507 o de la regional 211, tras poco más de una veintena de kilómetros.
La Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Buen Acuerdo constituye un buen punto de observación general, estando además habilitado como merendero.
CONTENIDO:
La laguna de Gallocanta constituye la mayor laguna de origen endorréico de nuestro país, y, además de ser un importante refugio y paso de aves, tiene interesantes aspectos geológicos a contemplar.
La laguna se enclava en una depresión tectónica (su subsidencia o hundimientos está ligada a fallas en las sierras circundantes), que se ha originado durante tiempos geológicos relativamente recientes (finales del Plioceno y Cuaternario), condicionando un movimiento superficial de aguas endorréico (cerrado) y unos niveles freáticos (nivel del agua subterránea) muy cercanos a la superficie.
Las variaciones importantes en el volumen de agua disponible durante el año dan lugar, incluso, a una sedimentación carbonatada y evaporítica en el fondo de la laguna 1400 Ha de área de encharcamiento.
