Turberas y Ríos de Piedras de Sierra del Tremedal (Teruel). Patrimonio Geológico Aragonés.

SITUACION GEOGRAFICA:

Al Oeste de la provincia de Teruel, en la Sierra del Tremedal (forma parte de las serranías de Albarracín), en el entorno de la población de Orihuela del Tremedal, la cual es accesible por la carretera comarcal 1511, que parte desde la N-330 de Zaragoza a Teruel. Desde Orihuela puede realizarse un recorrido por la carretera local hacia Noguera, hacia el Sur, que en unos 5-6 Km va a permitirnos observar toda una serie de elementos geológicos de interés.

CONTENIDO:

Formas periglaciares cuaternarias como laderas de bloques (canchales), lóbulos de gelifluxión en vertientes (deslizamientos por acción del hielo-deshielo), ríos de bloques en el fondo del valle, etc. Los bloques, a veces de gran tamaño, tienen su origen en procesos crioclásticos (acción del hielo). Los lóbulos de gelifluxión dan lugar a formas abombadas y bancales, donde se instalan pequeñas turberas, por acumulación de humedad y materia orgánica, que reciben la denominación local de tremedales.

Las litologías predominantes son cuarcíticas y su edad, paleozoica.
