Euparkeria. Dinosaurs. Geology Aragon

Nature of Aragon in English > Geology

It is the one that we can consider as the oldest representative of the dinosaurs. It was a relatively small reptile, little larger than a goose, from the Early Triassic of South Africa. It is one of the first known land animals capable of walking on two legs. With its long jaws armed with sharp teeth, it looked more like a small crocodile with overly long legs. This dinosaur lived, however, on land.

Although it moved most of the time on all fours, it was capable of running on two legs for short distances when chasing its prey.
His long tail allowed him to maintain balance during the race.

Euparkeria emerged about 225 million years ago. It is very likely that large carnivorous dinosaurs evolved from this reptile.
