Algae. Vegetables, plants. Vegetal kingdom. Flora.

Nature of Aragon > Flora

Algae are the simplest multicellular vegetables, since their structure is formed by the thallus, which is a group of cells with certain differentiation, similar to leaves, roots or stems.

Therefore, they do not have tissues, conductive vessels, leaves or roots, but certain parts of the plant assume specific functions.

They have plastids rich in chlorophyll and other pigments.

Reproduction takes place in alternating phases, sexually and asexually.

The algae can be red or Rhodophycean algae; Brown algae or Phaeophycea and green algae or Chlorophycea.

BIOLOGICAL CYCLE OF ALGAE

Alga.

  1. The male Conceptaculus or antheridium produces: Anterozoids or male gametes.
  2. The female Conceptacle or Oogonium produces: Oospheres or female gametes.
  3. The result is Eggs or Zygotes.
  4. Later an Embryo develops.
  5. At the end a Seedling appears.

CLASSIFICATION OF ALGAE

algae in depth

Seaweed lives as deep as sunlight reaches.
On the shores there are green algae (chlorophyceans), which also live in continental and stagnant waters.
Brown algae live deeper and red algae can reach up to 100 meters in tropical waters.

From least to greatest complexity we can make the following classification:
