Nature of Aragon > Flora

They are cormophyte plants, with perfectly differentiated tissues and organs.

It is the largest group of vegetables, with more than 200,000 species.
They are also known as spermaphytes or spermatophytes and reproduce by seeds with visible sexual organs.

They are divided into Gymnosperms and Angiosperms.

Gymnosperms

They are plants that have exposed seeds, with flowers made up of scaly leaves, generally pineapple-shaped.
They are perennial and have great economic importance.
There are about 700 species of gymnosperms and they were abundant in certain geological periods, especially in the Carboniferous.

Angiosperms

They are the most evolved and widespread phanerogamous plants of all vegetables and the most numerous in species (more than 200,000).

These plants have flowers that produce seeds enclosed and protected by the wall of the ovary (carpels) which later become fruit.

Angiosperms can be herbaceous, shrubby or tree plants.

They represent the most important block of human food and many animals.

By their seeds they are classified into: Dicotyledons and Monocotyledons.
