Nature of Aragon > Fauna

Many of the clupeids are marine fish of wide distribution in all the seas, which usually form large banks.

They are migratory.

They have great economic importance due to their use for human consumption, especially herring and sardine.

Among the clupeids, those mentioned are all marine clupeiforms.
Others live in the abyssal depths.

The tarpon belongs to the elopid family, primitive marine fish from the evolutionary point of view.
It can measure 2.5 m and weigh up to 150 kg.

Freshwater Guadalupe or osteoglycosides

They are fish that live in the tropics, large and with a swim bladder that enables them to breathe out of the water from time to time.
They are all other fish predators.
Main species arapaima and arawana.

Arapaima is the largest freshwater fish in the world. It measures more than 5 m and 200 kg of weight.
He lives in the Amazon Basin and is much appreciated.

Notoptéridos are freshwater fish from the rivers of Africa and Asia. They are large, with the highly developed anal fin, attached to the caudal fin.
Sometimes, they can also breathe air.

The gimnarco belongs to the family of mormiriformes, and they have a long snout that they use to remove the muddy bottom of the rivers.

Salmonids

They are clupeid fish that have enormous economic importance despite the small number of species.
They are diffused by fresh and salt, cold or temperate waters of the northern hemisphere.
They have an elongated, fusiform body, with numerous scales very implanted in the skin, which is very slippery.
This family includes salmon and trout in its different varieties.

Salmon itself is a typical migrating fish.
At 3 or 4 years he leaves the sea waters and traces the waters of the European or American rivers, where he reproduces, overcoming with tenacity the numerous obstacles he encounters.
The fry remain 2 or 3 years in freshwater and then descend to the sea.

Among the varieties of salmonids are Atlantic salmon, Pacific salmon, common trout, rainbow trout, alpine trout, grayling, smelt, and so on.

Everyone has scales of different colors and their meat is much appreciated.

Trout
Trout

In many countries there are trout farms that are destined for the consumption and repopulation of rivers and lakes.

Trout fishing is one of the most interesting because of the skill required to surprise caution own these fish. When they are captured they fight with great energy trying to escape.
