General characters

Chilopods are a class of mandibulated arthropods, with an elongated and depressed body divided into segments with a pair of legs each.
 The head consists of a pair of antennae, simple eyes or ocelli, a pair of jaws and two pairs of jaws.
 The legs of the first segment are transformed into strong maxillipeds called "forcicles" that end in a nail, with which they inoculate venom from their venomous gland.
 They are carnivorous and predatory land animals.
 They are equipped with a tracheal respiratory system.
 Circulation with dorsal heart and peripheral vessels.

 All species are long and thin legs.
 They live mostly in warm countries.
 They feed on flies and other insects.

Some common species:

Centipede (Litobius forticatus) (4 cm.)
Geophile (Haplophilus).
Scutígera or sliding (Scutigera coleoptrata)
Scolopendra cingulata.

Scolopendra

It is a flattened body kilopod and a variable number of segments (20 to 40) with a pair of legs on each.
The first pair is at the service of the mouth, is poisonous and is called forcipulas. The antennas are long.
There are common species of about 10 cm but other tropical species can reach 30 cm in length, whose bite can be dangerous.
They are predators and feed on small animals.
They live under the stones and are very carniboras.

Geofilomorphs

It attacks worms and worms by curling in its body. Some are luminescent (10 cm.)
They have more than 25 pairs of legs.
