Some stork nests become so large that they must be unloaded to avoid deterioration in the building on which they are located or the uncontrolled fall of the same.
Aware of the need to act, the Aragon General Council established an agreement in 1994 with ANSAR to attend to the maintenance, unloading, transfer of chickens and the location of new nests. It was thus possible to attend between 1994 and 1995 to more than 30 Aragonese towns that had problems related to stork nests.
The objective of this campaign is to achieve nest conservation without risk to people and buildings.
Ansar has been developing periodic censuses of the Aragonese stork population. Complementarily, it performs chicken banding tasks to know its youth dispersion.
Stork nest
The nests, given the continuous contribution of materials, can acquire large dimensions, so it is necessary to download work that reduces their size.
In addition, artificial nests have been installed, roofs have been cleaned and chickens rescued for later transfer.
