Cerler.
Tourist focus of first order in Aragon, this area is among the most frequented of the Pyrenees. Uncontrolled camping and abandonment of garbage are the most frequent problems during the summer season, when the largest influx of visitors is recorded. On the other hand, conflicting works projected on this Natural Space -like the construction of mini-power stations, the opening of new border crossings or the route of High Voltage lines-, show the need for a coordination of the different sectorial plans for the Pyrenees that distribute adequately this type of infrastructure.
After the elaboration in 1989 of the study for the creation of a Network of Protected Natural Spaces of the Autonomous Community of Aragon (RENPA) and before the growing problems observed in this enclave, the need to protect this mountain area begins to be discussed. In 1993, a Proposition of Law is presented that is approved unanimously by the Aragonese Cortes. After the corresponding parliamentary procedure, this Proposition becomes a Law, declaring in 1994 the POSETS-MALADETA PARK.
Among the first tasks to be developed by the management bodies of this Space, is the drafting of the Plan for the Regulation of Natural Resources (PORN).
Said Plan -which excepts exceptions must be prepared prior to the declaration of Protected Natural Space-, will make the definitive delimitation of the Park and its Peripheral Protection Zone. The Area of Socioeconomic Influence that includes the municipal terms with part of the territory in the Park and its Peripheral Zone.
On the other hand, the existence in the territory of the POSETS-MALADETA PARK of most of the NATURAL MONUMENTS OF THE PIRENAIC GLACIERS,
makes necessary the coordination of the works developed by the management bodies of these two Protected Natural Spaces.
Some of the first actions carried out have been: the reinforcement of the Forest Nursery, the attention to the visitors through the accomplishment of tasks of information and the regulation of certain road accesses. With them, it is intended to contribute to the conservation of the unique natural values of the POSETS-MALADETA PARK.
