Escitamíneas

Este Orden agrupa a varias familias de plantas herbáceas tropicales o de zonas cálidas.
Entre ellas hay algunas muy importantes para el consumo humano, como el banano (plátano), y el ananá (piña americana).
El banano, a pesar de su tamaño, es una hierba gigante que va formando su tallo al superponerse sus hojas.
Tiene flores femeninas que se convierten en el fruto o plátano.
Otras plantas de este Orden son la cúrcuma, el cardamomo, el jengibre, etc.
