Normative

If you plan to spend your holidays in nature, you should bear in mind that free camping is prohibited in the entire territory of the Autonomous Community of Aragon.

To this end, there is a Decree of the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of Aragon (BOA Decree 79/1990 of May 8) that regulates tourism camping and other modalities. This decree does not include youth camping, which is regulated in Decree 68/1997 BOA of May 13.

Campsites and Camping Areas

They are duly delimited spaces, conditioned and equipped with the facilities and services that, for the different categories, are established in the regulations. There is an annual Official Guide to Campings in Spain or the Tourist Services Guide de Aragon that is updated every year, with the list of these places.

Itinerant Camping

They are those that, respecting the property rights of the land, are carried out outside the camping areas. They are formed by groups integrated of three stores and nine people, with a maximum stay of two nights. The minimum distance between groups will be 1 km. They must be done at least 5 km from a camping or camping area.
The authorization of the land owner is required. Its lack will imply the immediate lifting of the camping.

If you plan to camp in protected natural areas, keep in mind that they also have their own regulatory standards. Consult them and telephone the offices of these spaces to request a permit before preparing the trip, and thus not have no unpleasant surprises.

High Mountain Camping

They are carried out at levels greater than 1,500 m. altitude and that they are at least two hours away from any accessible point. You can stay up to a maximum of three nights for each camping point. It is mandatory to previously notify the Civil Guard of the post closest to its completion.

Camping / Youth Activities

To speak of youth camping is to refer to camps, colonies, marches and other activities in which they participate more than 10 young people under the age of 18, for more than two consecutive nights. They are regulated by Decree 68/1997 of 13 May (BOA nº 58). They must always have a person in charge who is in possession of the title "Director of Activities in Free Time". Likewise, the person in possession of the title of "Higher Technician in Sociocultural Services and the Community", as well as graduates in "Sciences of Physical and Sports Education" may exercise the responsibility for these activities..

Any natural or legal person that organizes a youth activity must notify the Department through an official form. of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Youth and Sports of the Government of Aragon, twenty days before the date on which it is carried out and attaching the following documentation:

• Written authorization from the land owner.
• Photocopy of the title of "Director of Activities in Free Time" or equivalent.
• Program of the activity to develop.
• Location and access to the facility (except those made in tourist facilities.

The aforementioned regulations include other interesting aspects, such as the responsibility of the director, the number of monitors in the activity and health aspects.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The activities described here require adequate physical and technical preparation, sufficient experience and appropriate and specific equipment for each case, when not the assistance of expert guides and a good knowledge of the geographical and climatic environment, to avoid possible accidents, fruit of imprudence.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR STAY IN NATURE

1. Neither leave nor bury the garbage. Take it to where there is a pick up service.
2. Beware of fire. In some places you should never do it, in others there are appropriate places. Always turn off the embers and never throw cigarette butts, either from the car or walking.
3. Close the gates, gates, bars, cabin doors ... etc., that you are in the countryside. This prevents livestock or other animals from entering or leaving.
4. Always cross the farmland along the paths. Never step on the sown ones.
5. Dogs should, as a rule, be tied so that they do not disturb or frighten cattle or free animals.
6. Respect and care for water sources and courses.
7. Do not turn nature into a workshop, changing the oil or washing the car in any ditch.
8. If you are a joker and drive on a track, drive slowly, because in any corner you can find walkers or cattle.
