El proceso de adaptación al ciclo otoñal obliga a las frondosas a desprenderse de las hojas frente al follaje verde oscuro de los pinos y las brillantes hojas de los acebos. Los hayedos están en su máximo esplendor de color, en ocres, naranjas y rojos. El resto de las frondosas que conservan hojas muestran una gama variada de amarillos. Las coníferas van renovando las acículas. Hay flor de rhododendro y corilus. El acebo exhibe sus frutos rojos y brillantes. También con fruto están los sorbus, fagus, prunus y rosal silvestre, y las bellotas van cayendo al suelo. Pero lo más destacable ha sido el apogeo de las setas, ya que ha sido la semana en la que más especies han hecho su aparición en los bosques de la Bal de Tena.
Está próximo el cortejo del quebrantahuesos y la freza de la trucha. Del norte llegan en tropel las avefrías,y hay vuelos migratorios del aguila culebrera, alimoche, cernícalo roquero, cuco, collalba. ... Las marmotas han entrado ya en letargo.
El tiempo es soleado, pero las temperaturas descienden bruscamente por las noches, produciéndose heladas. Hay bajos niveles de agua en los pantanos y los ríos acusan una fuerte disminución del caudal.
