Bosques verdes y pastizales que "agostean" en este valle. En la zona del ibon de Piedrafita, a 1600 metros de altitud, la naturaleza disfruta de una gran variedad de flora y fauna.
En flor están el Pino sylvestre, el boj, calluna, menta longifolia, ranúnculus rapens, campanula, saxifraga, geranium pyrenaicum, helechos, potentilla alpina, heléboro ...
Las aves pueblan el cielo: alimoches, halcón peregrino, ratonero común, milano real, buitres, mirlo acuático, pardillo común, jilgueros, gorriones, aviones, vencejos...
En el ibón de Piedrafita abundan las larvas-renacuajos de Sapo partero en gran número, lo que augura la recuperación de esta especie en el ibón tras una afección vírica que causó una gran mortandad en julio de 1992. En el Barranco del Boj, un pequeño regato que proviene del ibón, pueden verse con facilidad tritones pirenaicos y ranas bermejas.
