Siguen estando las cumbres nevadas, pero por encima de los 1.650 metros, y el espesor de la capa es menor, e incluso los prados comienzan a reverdecer. El enebro va dando los primeros frutos, aún verdes.
Comienzan a llegar las especies de aves más tempranas en vuelos migratorios, como el Anthus spp. y se observa un fenómeno asociado a las aves en estas fechas: se escuchan los primeros cantos y trinos "de territorio", con vuelos de demostración, mediante los cuales los pájaros van marcando sus áreas. En la zona conocida como Barranco Brocuso, próximo a Portalet, por ejemplo, es posible observar un numeroso bando de jilgueros, de entre 80 y 100 ejemplares, revoloteando por las zonas libres de nieve en búsqueda de comida. A la caída de la tarde es posible observar los primeros murciélagos del año, en vuelo tras su período de hibernación.
