Las bajas temperaturas, con fuertes heladas, y la nieve caída han producido un cambio en el color del paisaje: bajo el verde de los pinos, una delgada alfombra blanca cubre el suelo. En algunos tramos de la pista de Donarque-Albarracín hay abundantes placas de hielo que dificultan la accesibilidad.
A ocho kilómetros de Albarracín, en el Barranco de la Fuente del Sabuco, las rocas areniscas lucen su presencia entre la riqueza botánica con representación de las tres especies de pinos de la sierra, algunos rebollos y marojos, y un sinfín de arbustos: acebo, jaras, bricios, madreselvas, espinos, zarzas, helechos y hiedras silvestres que trepan por las rocas y los troncos de los árboles.
