La nieve protagoniza el paisaje de la Sierra de Albarracín, desde Peña de la Cruz hasta El Caimodorro. Las temperaturas bajo cero por la noche favorecen la aparición de grandes escarchas matinales donde no hay nieve. No hay problemas de accesos por la red principal de comunicaciones, pero sí dificultades en las pistas forestales, con nieve y hielo. En cuanto a los árboles, todos han perdido sus hojas salvo el rebollo, que las conserva secas. Aún pueden encontrarse en los lugares más abrigados del Rodeno las delicadas flores azules del romero. Bellotas y gayuba son los frutos más característicos del momento, esenciales para la dieta de los jabalíes y de los zorzales, respectivamente. Es época de gestación para la mayoría de las hembras de los mamíferos más grandes.
