El parque está nevado en toda su extensión. Ante la falta de pastos y el manto blanco que todo lo cubre, los animales se esfuerzan por encontrar alimentos básicos para superar la etapa invernal. Sarrios y corzos, por ejemplo, ramonean yemas de avellano, pino e incluso boj. Es época de reproducción para algunas especies. Entre las aves, el piquituerto está en plena etapa reproductiva, y poder observar al macho es todo un espectáculo ya que su plumaje luce un llamativo y fuerte color carmesí.
