Pese al frío reinante ha florecido ya el primer fresno ("Fraxinus angustifolia"). Ello es posible gracias a las particulares condiciones de esta zona del soto, en la que la densidad de la vegetación actúa como cortavientos, y la presencia del agua en el Galacho amortigua las oscilaciones de la temperatura. Los chopos y álamos comienzan a preparar ya sus yemas para el rebrote de primavera. En el sotobosque, algunas especies mantienen sus hojas como la hiedra ("Hedera helix"), y algunas rosas ("Rosa spp.") y zarzas ("Rubus spp.").
FAUNA: Especies de aves acuáticas que se pueden contemplar en esta época son el ánade real ("Anas platyrhynchos"), ánade friso ("Anas strepera"), cerceta común ("Anas crecca"), focha ("Fulica atra"), polla de agua ("Gallinula chloropus"), garza real ("Ardea cinerea") y aguilucho lagunero. ("Circus aeruginosus").
