Located in the Depression of the Ebro, the region of the Monegros includes/understands biological, anthropological and cultural territories that share climatic characteristics, geologic, own. When not existing limits defined clearly, these vary according to authors; with object to identify them easily, and agreeing to a great extent with feeling of the population, we can consider members from this region to earth located to the south of the Level ones of Violet and the Somontano, and limited by the rivers Gállego the west, Ebro to the south and Cinca to the east.
A basically horizontal landscape, crossed of NOT by the mountain range of Alcubierre, that has its Maxima height in the 822 m.s of Monte Oscuro. The presence of some teeth and hills witness and a semi-arid climate, with little precipitations and discharges summer temperatures, is the signs of identity of a territory with variable appearance according to the time of the year in which we visit it; thus, while in spring the great cultivated extensions offer to our Vista the aspect of an interminable solpicada prairie of poppies, it is in summer when a landscape dominated by all ranges of ocher to the target, with a vegetation of dark tones, can present/display in many of its corners the aspect of atrue desert.
The horizontalidad and geology of the land, together with the dryness of the climate, are conditional a bad estructuroción of the networks of drainage and the consequent appearance of numerous lagoons, salty and rafts that, as a whole, conform the more important endorreico complex of Europe. The singularity of these humid zones, along with the communities animals and vegetables that lodge, constitute one of main attractive ecological and the natural ones of the Monegros; and they are sufficient elements of interest unemployment to justify a visit to this Aragonese region. The Lagoon of Sariñena and the Lagoon of the Beach, are two of the more emblematic humid spaces of Monegros.
