The refuge is at its best: the short flowering of the steppe is compensated by the spectacular spring color. The white and blue flowers of the asnallo, "Ononis tridentata", intermingle with the yellow of the jarilla, "Helianthemum squamatum", and the aliaga, "Genista scorpius", the tiny white and violet flowers of the thyme or the delicacy of the inflorescence of the Gypsophila hispanica with its flowers of five white petals. Wheat, on the other hand, maintains a modest growth, due to the brief spring rains brought by the storms.

The nesting of the main bird species continues. To avoid damage to birds and chickens it is essential that visitors do not leave the roads when traveling. The stone curlew, "Burhinus oedienemus", emblematic bird of the zone, nests in the ground and is now when the hatching of the eggs takes place. The chickens of the calandria, "Melanocorypha calandra", are also about to hatch, leave the nest within a few days and the female can incubate a second set.
