Nature of Aragon > Fauna

They have membranous wings, folded under others, short and chitinous.

They have a chewing mouthpiece and short antennae.

At the back end of the abdomen appear appendages in the form of tongs with which they can hold their prey, but totally harmless to man.

Most of these insects feed on plants, and can cause serious damage to crops and orchards.

They are insects with great strength and it is said that a female earwig can drag a small toy wagon that weighs seven thousand times more than the insect.

Formerly it was believed that earwigs were introduced in the ears to drill them, but it is only a legend.
